So Nolen is now just over a month old! It really does go by fast! He is getting cuter and cuter every day. Owen and I just stare at him and smile at our little boy. He is SO CUTE! Question for all those moms out there...the bink. I spend A LOT of time putting that bink back in his mouth so that he won't throw a fit. He can SCREAM. I have had more headaches than ever before...So anyway, I have noticed that the times that he really wants his bink is when he is tired (and I am tired)-just as he is falling asleep-he is so content when it is in-but the moment it falls out-ahhhhh. As I am writing this I am having to stop to put that bink back in!! I put a video of this to show just a glimpse of what I am talking about...gotta go, wailing baby here.
So what do I do?
So what do I do?

That video is SO cute! Love it! You're not kidding about his love of the bink. Neither of my boys really cared for pacifiers at all, so I have no real good advice for you-sorry! My guess is that he'll get better and better at keeping it in, and pretty soon he'll probably be able to put it in and out all by himself! Then you'll be sad cuz that part of your job will be over. Just keep on keepin' on! xo
For some reason I can't get the video to work, but I wanted to say good luck! Rachel didn't really take a pacifier either so I don't really have any advice. You might have to hold it in for a little while...I don't know.
my kids weren't big on the bink either, but the one simon did go for for a while was the one that looks like a butterfly/hourglass shape (the part that covers the lip). maybe he'd be able to keep another one in better, since he's already used to having one. do you just slip it in after he's eaten?
talk to you soon!
Julianna, he is so darn cute!! As for the big pacifier dilema, I totally feel your pain! All 3 of my kids have LOVED their paci's! I really don't have any advice, with our 1st we constantly put it back in (that spoiled little princess!). With our 2nd, we let her fuss more for it. And with my sweet boy Linc, #3, we let him fuss even more. Eventually they all figure out how to stick the darn thing in on their own, but that doesn't help you in the middle of the night (or day for that matter!). One thing I try to do is get them used to not having it in their mouth constantly. I also try to take it out of their mouth when they are in a deep sleep...to get them used to sleeping without it. I don't know if these tips really work, but I always feel like I am doing something to help the situation out. Some babies really need that sucking motion though. Goodluck...pacifiers are my best friend, and my worst enemy!
Hi Juce--never spelled it out before! Love the pics--you're doing great--maybe he'll find his thumb once he finds his hands!!! Oh, babies--gotta love 'em bink or no bink--he is sooo big now! call me-love to all -Mom
Hey Jules, no worries he will totally get within the next couple weeks, gid was like that, they have to train them self to be able to hold on to it. It will get alot better, the little boy I watched took him months to hold on to it, but he loved the bink and so do I!! Love you guys see you sunday!
The Valenzuelas got it right. He'll figure it out but it will take a few weeks for him to develop the muscles to keep the paci in longer. I know this is against some rules, but when I'd bundle up Jakie really tight, some of the blanket wrapped around the paci...just enough to keep it there if his muscles relaxed, but not too tight that he couldn't spit it out himself. I'm glad that he takes a pacifier...Jeff just cried and cried and cried unlike my other babies. I'm so relieved to be past that...:)
I want to come over and just watch your little Nolan too! That video was adorable...
The trip will come one day and I can't wait!
But we need to talk sometime before then!:)
I love you Jules!
I too think the Venenzuelas nailed it. I'll bet Owen could rig up some kind of strap for it though if he really put his mind to it! Like a glasses strap! I just love that video. What a performer!
Ella and I just watched that video like 8 times! She kept saying "More cute baby!" As far as what to do with the binky issue...I don't have any advice. Ryan used to say that he wanted to use one of her headbands to strap it in. (I never let him do it) but I guess all I can say is patience. As with everything else...it all just gets a little bit easier as they get older. Well, klinda.
Awe! He's so cute Jules! You know I'm not a mom so I really have no clue about what to do but maybe try another shape or size of nipple? I don't know if those exist even! haha! :) You're doing great though! You're such a good mommy and Nolen is soo cute!
