4 month Check Up and BLOGGER ILLITERATE

I am so BLOGGER illiterate! I wanted the paragraph at the top- and cant figure it out! Now i have this lame blue writing with a line under it!!!!!!!!!!!!! geez..................................

We have one adorable boy. We found out some bummer news at Nolen's 4 month check up- he is under weight - 12 pounds and his head is mis-shaped. More tummy time -which he HATES and less standing time-which he LOVES. It is so hard to watch him scream and cry through tummy time-I am hoping he will get used to it...in the pictures where he's laying down he gave up and just fell asleep-also I posted them so you can see the shape of his head. We may need to get the helmet kids wear to help with this problem. It is correctable, just a pain to deal with. But we figured there could be a LOT worse things that could happen. Owen and I just feel so blessed to have this little man in our lives. Goodness, he's cute.

ahhh, the whole "positional plagiocephaly" thing. i heard about that when we were dealing with alli's head stuff--don't worry it's different than what allianna had. but still really hard to deal with--nolen's cousin simon LOATHED tummy time too, so i hear you on that one.

i'm tempted to dig out simon's old growth charts because i'm pretty sure he was a skinny little thing too. i swear they don't take into account parents' build when they look at those growth charts.

but, that nolen is AMAZINGLY cute. cute cute cute. and stinkin handsome. so cute. can't wait to meet him!

welcome back to blogging--we've missed you and yours!

ps/ if you click on the picture and hold your mouse button down and then scoot it over to the side rectangle slide bar thingie, it will let you drag and drop your picture where you want it. i cursed blogger a few times figuring that out.

Julianna, Hi! Christy had me check your blog about Nolen. My 7 month old boy just got a helmet for Brachycephaly. It isn't too bad but hard on Me (I like seeing my baby's head). I am dying to give you my advice. I am sure every one you tell has a story for you.

First, if he needs a helmet, the sooner the better. If you can get it before his 5 and 6 month old growth spurt it will be on for less time, like only 1-2 months. If you miss them he could be in a helmet for up to 4-5 months! Yeah, we missed Maddux's growth spurts and are suffering!

Second... Tummy time. Maddux goes to Pyhsical Therapy for his head, and the therapyst says to break tummy time in slowly. 1-2 minutes every 20 minutes, and then 5 minutes every hour, then increase the time with practice. Get on the floor with nolen and shake rattles, sing, play. Babies last longer with a pal. Plus, tummy time propped on a boppy counts! put books in his view and talk about them with him.

3rd, Positioning... There are so many ideas for this.

Good luck! Nolen is adorable. As hard as the head shape is, I would rather have a grateful teenaged Son happy with his round head than a kid with low self esteem!

Underweight what? Lame. And I've had a couple friends who have dealt with the helmet recently too. It seems to be more common these days or something. My nephew has to wear one now too and he's just an itty bitty guy. Better now than when he's in Middle School or something.

And definitely agreed. He's a cutie!

THANKS for those cute pics! Nolen is 100% adorable, misshapen head and all. Seriously, he could not be any cuter. I checked Luke's baby book, because he was always towards the bottom of the curve for weight. So, at age 4 months and 2 days old he was 12 lbs, 14oz and 26" long (he was 8-13 at birth). I remember that I was always worried about him gaining enough weight. Is he starting solids yet? Maybe that will give him a little more chub. One of my least favorite things about being a mom is worrying about nutrition-- right now I am feeling tons of anxiety because Lance hasn't consumed a single vegetable in almost a week. That's why I'm up so late! I'm losing sleep over it! Ahhh!!!

Little Nolen is SO handsome. I especially like the picture of him on the couch in his dress shirt. :) I will have to tell Tayler that it's OK to go for younger men. :)

He is so cute!! Don't feel sad about his head and weight...Caden TOTALLY was the same way!! I don't remember how much he weighed at 4 mo's, but he only weighed 15lbs at 6 months, and 17 at a year!! he's small! :D Working with the head thing sucks! I wish I would have worked harder to stretch Caden's muscles so he could hold his head straighter--so it wouldn't have been a funny shape, but it made me sad so I didn't!! You can't really tell now...only when he wears a hat!, but--it'll get better!! Good luck!! You guys are so cute!!
